Billy's mission and the team.

None of this would have been possible without the idea that came from Billy, whose legacy we continue with BillyChip. Although he is no longer with us, we started the charity with his vision in mind. As an ambulance driver in Bristol, Billy saw the awful effects that homelessness has on people's lives across his home city of Bristol.

Being the kind and gentle soul he was, Billy wanted to make a lasting change. After a conversation with his dad, who was reluctant to donate cash directly to those on the streets, he came up with the idea of a safe and secure currency to help support those experiencing homelessness.

Our Team

Jon Hope

CEO

Jon is Billy's dad. Having worked in the sustainable energy sector, Jon gave up his career to put his passion and time into BillyChip. Committed to the cause, Jon helped Billy draft a business plan for a safe and secure currency that was available on the high-street to donate to rough sleepers. After Billy's death, Jon and his daughter Meg made Billy's vision a reality, launching BillyChip in 2019 in their home city of Bristol.

Jack Gascoigne

Communication Director

Charismatic, cheeky and caring. Jack, one of Billy’s closest friends, is a professional photographer with unique skills and list of contacts from the entertainment, music and sports world. Jack has brought Michelin star chefs like Pierre Koffman, Marco Pierre-White and Tom Kerridge on board to help with the mission, he’s created connections through Premiership football & rugby teams, the world of Formula 1, and organised promotional events in the music industry to help spread awareness of Billy’s mission.

Daisy Mellor

Business Development Manager

An experienced professional with a history of working within hospitality and the restaurant industry, Daisy joined Team BillyChip in April 2024 and handles all existing outlets and the onboarding of new ones, helping new businesses adapt to be able to trade BillyChip, whilst making sure local authorities support the role out of BillyChip in new areas and liaising with local outreach services to inform their clients of BillyChip and where they can be redeemed.

“If I give money to a homeless person, it will be used for drugs or alcohol”.

This was a common thing Billy kept hearing, and he wanted to find a way around this.
